'Give us a chance' consortium

Potential Future Jobs Fund replacement scheme providing training and job opportunities for young people.

Many social housing providers are involved in providing employment and training opportunities for young people living in their communities, between the ages of 16 and 25.  WK Consulting is proud to be supporting a new initiative to further this work.

The 'Give us a chance' consortium is a group of housing associations that are working together to develop temporary job opportunities through the Work Programme's Prime Contractors.

Building on the Future Jobs Fund

Members have been involved in providing work and training opportunities for years, but in recent times these initiatives were turbo-charged by the Future Jobs Fund.  FJF was hugely successful in enabling associations to take on a wide range of unemployed young people from graduates to NEETs (young people - 'Not in Employment, Education or Training').  Now discontinued, the consortium is seeking through a similar scheme to maintain the good-will, HR, training infrastructure and real job opportunities that FJF created.

Temporary job models

The Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion has produced information on financing the temporary job models from the perspective of both the social housing provider and the prime contractor.  These can be downloaded as follows:

Official launch at the House of Commons on 12 March

The official launch of the Consortium will bring together social landlords, Work Programme prime contractors, MPs, young people and other movers and shakers so that together we can make a difference.  To register, please click here.
